The RheinInsights Retrieval Suite does not come with an embedded Load Balancer. If you want to run it in failover scenarios, the following applies:

Query Pipelines / Search Experience

Please setup a load balancer which balances the load towards the deployed instances of the Retrieval Suite. This load balancer must offer a valid SSL certificate.

Please make sure that the base address of the application is registered in the app registration in Entra ID (See Entra ID ).

Failover Crawling

The connector framework can balance individual crawling across deployed Retrieval Suite instances. The crawl coordination runs through an internal messaging which relies on the enterprise database (cf. Database Setup and Configuration ).

Please note that therefore H2 is not supported as a database in failover scenarios.

Load Balancer Configuration

After setting up the respective instances of the RheinInsights Suite through the First Run Configuration , you can configure any load balancer to direct requests to these instances.
